In case of: final lining galleries ,foundations, diaphragms, pilings, load tests on pole, steel structures, dams, bridges and viaducts; OTR suggests OG100 Strain Gauge.

There are three different type of it. Embedment type: they are preinstalled on supports fixed with iron wire to the armatures of the pole to be instrumented (OG100VW-E).

Weldable type: they are preinstalled by metal blocks welded to the bar or structure to be monitored and then the vibrating wire is installed (OG100VW-A).

Mini vibrating wire extensometers called Spot Weldable: weldable using mini spot welder, they are used where it is necessary to measure the stress state of steel (OG100VW-S).

How are they installed?

For the Embedment type, the instrument is incorporated to the casting of concrete; taking care to won’t create pressure to the extremity of the same during the procedure.

In case of Embedment type fixed on two structures, wrap a layer of self-vulcanizing rubber around the instrument about 3cm from the electromagnet and attach the strain gauge to the armature cage and finally drown the structure.

For the Weldable type, fix the blocks with the template and screw to fix it. Once cleaned up the installation surface weld the blocks and at the end remove the template. Once fixed the instrument connect it to the reader to start the measuring.
